Every year on July 18th people around South Africa celebrate Mandela Day by dedicating at least 67 minutes of their time to give back to their communities. These activities commemorate the 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted towards the struggle of human rights and making the world a better place.
We will spend our Mandela Day providing mobile literacy classes for students, like those at local information and communications technology (ICT) centers.
Recently, we visited one of these ICT center dedicated to providing a digital classroom to transform learning amongst teachers and students through e-learning:
Through innovative Opera products, Opera syncing technology enables learners and teachers to continue reading their bookmarked tabs on their mobile phones at their convenience. This means when they leave the center, they needn’t leave all their reading materials behind. We also continue to work with WordReader to provide access to over 20,000 free books in many African countries.
How will you spend your Mandela Day?
